PROBLEM
Venturing out into the field of design after graduation, it is important for one to differentiate and define themselves. Enter Personal Brand Identity. The challenge was to create something different and better than anything else out there, all the while thinking locally, sustainably, and true to who I am.

The challenge was to create something different and better than anything else out there, all the while thinking locally, sustainably, and true to who I am.
SOLUTION
After struggling to brand an identity under my name, or some variation of it, I started to think of other words or phrases that could represent me and my design philosophies. The phrase “out of the box” came to mind. I shortened it to “Unbox” and created a design and philosophy based on what it could mean to a creative agency.
Most of the things people buy come in boxes. This is generic, boring, and harmful to the environment. To unbox is to challenge conventional methods, creating a paradigm shift in the way people think about design. Smart design considers sustainability. Environmental sustainability, fiscal sustainability, and the sustainability of ideas. In order to arrive at sustainable solutions, we have to first go through the process of unboxing.

OUTCOMES
Based on the ideas presented under solution, I designed my brand identity including a logo and variations, style guide, contract and a branded notebook. These were created using primarily available materials, which is both fiscally and environmentally friendly. Working this way also forced me to find clever ways to utilize and repurpose things I already had.
